
The University of Urbino Carlo Bo (Italy)

The University of Urbino Carlo Bo (UNIURB) is one the most ancient European Universities. In 2003, UNIURB was entitled to the Italian poet and scholar Carlo Bo, who was the University’s rector from 1947 to 2001. It became a state university in 2012. The faculties of Law and of Chemistry and Pharmacy are active since the 19th century, and the number of courses and study programmes constantly grew over the last 160 years. In the last decade, UNIURB conformed to new social needs and took up the challenges of the contemporary world. Its postgraduate programmes became international as a result of new teaching activities in English. Online teaching and distance learning have become a reality which supports and enriches traditional face to face activities, without replacing them. Valencian International University (Spain)

Universidad Internacional de Valencia (VIU) has experienced a gigantic transformation over the last 15 years. The university was created in 2005 by the Regional Government of Valencia that sold in 2013 70% of the university to the Planeta Group just during the posterior years of the economic crisis in 2008 to guarantee VIU’s economic sustainability. Planeta Group, and its higher education division PFU, has led a spectacular growth of the university from 970 students in 2005 to the current 20.000+ students in 2022. VIU started in 2018 its way to the EFQM model and approved in 2019 a project to adopt DOCENTIA, the model of high quality in education in Spain. Also, in 2019 VIU approved its Research Strategic Plan 2020-2022 to increase the university contribution to the research community worldwide. Along with the Doctoral School, 3 additional research centres started in 2022: one specialised in Health Sciences, another in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and a third one in Arts and Communication. Abdullah Gül University (Türkiye)

Abdullah Gül University (AGU), the first Turkish public university supported by a philanthropic foundation (AGUV), was established in 2010. In 2016, AGU was re-created as a Socio-Technical University Model (Global Solutions and AGU Socio-Technical University Project). Supported by the Turkish Ministry of Development, it is the first cross-sectorial initiative for a Hybrid University model with unique and innovative curricula. Powiślański University (Poland)

Powiślański University (PSW) was established in 1999 by the Society of Economic and Environmental Education. PSW since 2017 is involved as one of the first universities in Poland in the working group of Social Responsibility of Universities, which conducts research for staff, students and publishes the Workbooks of Good Practices to be implemented by Polish universities. In 2020, the university has approved the new Strategic Plan for Development for years 2021-2027 to optimize as well as increase university contribution to the society and research locally and globally. Opening of 3 new campuses, (1) Gdańsk, (2) Kościerzyna and (3) Toruń carry PSW successfully implemented practical education in the field of Nursing. This way the university created a cross-linked community with more than 60 partner hospitals in the Northern Poland to improve the country’s situation with shortage of medical staff. Referring to the Strategic Development Plan of PSW, the university, in May 2021 has finished the creation of Center of Medical Simulation, which is the most robotized and automatized center to provide practical education for nursing, midwifery and emergency medicine students on the highest level of quality. Another implemented action was the creation of Institute of Science and Development, which currently publishes academic publications. The biggest success of the Institute is creation and registration of Powiślański Publishing House in 2023. PSW’s strategic plans also include the creation of 5th campus in another northern Polish city – Słupsk as well as transferring all the programs that are available in Kwidzyn to all the other campuses. EKA University of Applied Sciences (Latvia)

Founded in 1998, EKA University of Applied Sciences had a change of management in 2014. With this change EKA has tripled the number of permanently employed academic staff and doubled the number of academic staff with a Doctoral Degree. EKA was the first Latvian HEI to introduce a new unique study form in 2014, distance learning with online classes in real time. This proved their uniqueness being the only HEI ready to transfer all education to a remote format, immediately after the announcement of the emergency in the country due to COVID. As a result, the institution well positioned to ensure a stress-free continuity of learning for students and staff. In 2014, the foreign students’ department was established. The number of full-time foreign students has increased from 8 to 263 by 2022. In a study conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science in 2020, graduates of EKA Bachelor′s Programmes in 2017 ranked first among Latvian private HEIs and third place among all Latvian HE institutions. In 2017 EKA introduced a new annual international scientific conference, Emerging Trends in Economics, Culture and Humanities (etECH). EKA is the only HEI in Latvia to offer an Academic Master Study Programme on Brand Design and Professional Bachelor Study Programme on Computer Game Design and Graphics. The monitoring data of the Ministry of Education and Science on the employment of graduates of higher education institutions in 2019 published in April 2021 show that EKA graduates rank first among Latvian private higher education institutions and rank at the top immediately after the largest state higher education institutions.
